Product Applications
  • Texigel® 23-005 is widely used as a thickening agent for natural and  synthetic rubber lattices used in carpet-backing compounds.
  • Texigel® 23-005 has also been found very useful for modifying the viscosity of many latex based adhesives, coating and sealing formulations. It is easily incorporated and does not add to the bacterial susceptibility of the wet compound. The viscosity of the compound produced is shear-dependent. The process of coating causes high shear and thus low viscosity, which facilitates application. After application the low shear conditions results in higher viscosity which minimizes penetration of the wet compound into the pile.
  • Texigel® 23-005 thickens more by bridging across the latex particles than by water-phase thickening. Consequently, absorbed surface active agents on the latex particles have a profound effect on ultimate viscosity. Texigel® 23-005 is widely used in carpet backing but also finds use in a wide variety of adhesive, coating and other specialized applications.
