- Afcona-5285 is an acidic termination of alkyl ethoxylated co-polymer. The acidic group gives very good anchoring effect in base pigments and matting agents. It will help in viscosity reduction of filler and extender dispersions.
- Afcona – 5285 has the following special properties:
- It is a very good dispersant for matting agent pastes.
- Afcona-5285 offers very good viscosity reduction. Therefore, it is suitable as a dispersant for highly loaded filler systems.
- It is also suitable for oil- and solvent-based printing inks, especially for inorganic pigment and filler dispersions in alcohol- rich systems.
- Afcona-5285 also helps to reduce the interfacial tension between pigments or extenders and the vehicle. Therefore, it will help shorten grinding time.
- It can be used in all resin systems, ranging from nonpolar to high polarity systems like air dry alkyd, acid curing, polyurethane and epoxy.
- This product is suitable for all kinds of pigments, including inorganic, organic and carbon black. It is also suitable for co- grinding.
Note: Afcona – 5285 will become hazy or even crystallize at temperatures below 15° C. Re-heat the material before use if crystallization happens. This will not influence the performance of the product.
